My wife and I (24/29) started feeling awful last night. She started getting an awful sore throat Monday afternoon but my is fine. This morning we both woke up with awful throw ups and diarrhea. She got tested for strep and the flu but both came back negative. The nurse said it was adult rotavirus. I have not been to the doctor but have the same symptoms. Apparently there's nothing that you can do to stop it except keep fluids down and rest. Here are my questions:
Is it ok for us to be sleeping in the same bed/hanging out in the same room since it seems like we have the same symptoms? We have a pretty small house so we don't have a lot of places to get away from eachother.
For those that have gotten adult rotavirus, how long did it last? My wife's nurse said she should stay out of work for the rest of the week since it's so contagious. Thanks for your replies!
I would trust that the nurse gave you all the basic information that you need. I can't see how being in the same room will hurt anything if you are both already exposed to the same virus. And if she suggested to stay out of work for the rest of the week, I would just follow that advice. It sounds reasonable to me.
