Cold medicines aren't working at all

I have cold that's been with me for a week and a half. Running nose and cough being the main things keeping me from sleeping much. I've taken cold caplets and decongestants. They aren't having any effect at all, but they used to in the past.

I live in a state where the main decongestant ingredient called pseudoephedrine has now been sold only behind the counter because some people were using it to make meth. Back in those days, that stuff used to clear up my nose for several hours when I was sick. The stuff they replaced it with is worthless. So now I went and got the pseudoephedrine-containing medicine again and it is now also ineffective!

What's going on with medicines these days? Is there anyone else noticing that they aren't working anymore?

The stuff with pseudoephedrine should have dried you up. You're right that the decongestants they replaced it with don't work, but the pseudo should. You may just have a particularly bad bug right now. I just had over a month of being sick with sinus issues, sore throat, headache. My doc said it was either viral or allergies because it wasn't bacterial (I had a blood test).

I thought the same thing about the pseudoephedrine, but I've taken 3 doses from the package I bought at Walmart, and I haven't seen any effect. Makes me wonder if they're watering down the ingredients now.

The package says "100% money back guarantee" which I'm planning to put to use tomorrow.
