Total loss of smell

I've had a cold that started on Friday. Last night I noticed I couldn't smell anything-perfumes, coffee etc. 12 hours later, I still can't smell anything. I went to the doctor yesterday, who said that I am "completely blocked up", nose-wise. I used nasal decongestant spray for a few days, but have stopped this. How long will this symptom last? Usually I can smell a little bit when I'm sick. It's been a bad year cold-wise!

It's been over a month since you posted. Did your sense of smell come back yet?
