Blepharoplasty Surgery

I was asked by another poster to describe my experience with eyelid surgery.

I had both the upper and lower eyelids lifted. My upper eyelids were very hooded and had no crease. I had bags underneath my lower eyelids.

AFter the upper and lower bleph, I now have a crease in my upper eyelids and no bags underneath! The result is very subtle and no one at work hardly noticed. The healing time is approximately 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. Most, if not all, of the swelling is gone in about 3 - 4 days, and then you just have a lot of bruising.

The total cost I paid was $3,000 for everything included.

I'm glad I spent the money. It was a huge boost to my self-esteem, as I was very self-conscious about my puffy eyelids.

Right now I am saving for a full facelift and will probably get this done in about two years. To me, if you can afford it, plastic surgery is worth every penny. It's a huge boost to your self-esteem and it's not just for movie stars anymore.

Re: Blepharoplasty Surgery

Yes, if your upper eyelids are obstructing your view, your insurance will cover it. Just make sure you get a good doctor who is board certified and make sure you see some before and after pictures. Good luck!

Thank you so much for posting on this Green Eyes. I can not afford it right now, but it is something I really would love to have done. Where did the Dr put the stitches when they lifted the lower and then upper lids? Is there any visible scars? How much time did you take off from work? Did you feel like it took about 10 years off the way you look? I do not really have any wrinkles, but the puffiness under my eyes really bothers me. How did you find the right person to do your surgery? Do you live on the east coast?
What did your surgeon tell you about when the puffiness my return again? Wlll it be necessary to have it re-done in a few years? Did you know anyone else that had the procedure done?
On one hand I am glad that you said hardly no on from work noticed, but on the other hand if it removed all the puffiness, how could they not notice?
Do you know anything about that so called weekend face lift?
Any info you can share is much appreciated. I really would like to look my best, it just makes me feel better.

Re: Blepharoplasty Surgery

Ladies that you for sharing your stories I have been considering this surgery for awhile now and I have not yet had a consultation. Within the last year and a half my job and family life has become so stressful and you can see the tiredness in my eyes, I have 3 lines under my eyes, not bags but creases and I want them removed would that be a Bleph surgery or something else??

Re: Blepharoplasty Surgery

I believe the surgery usually last for about 10 years and on eyelid surgery, it can sometimes be permanent. They do a small incision on each upper eyelid in the crease and the scar is not visible after surgery. You may see a very very thin line, but it's hidden in the crease.

The reason no one noticed at work is because eyelid surgery is very subtle. I used make-up to cover some of the bags under my eyes and I guess they weren't that bad, but now they are completely gone. The ones that I told I was having surgery did say they noticed a difference. It was the people who I didn't tell, that didn't seem to notice. They probably will notice something different, but won't quite be able to pinpoint it.

Actually, the doc that I used doesn't like to overdo any surgery, so even though I do have definition in my upper eyelid and a crease (which i didn't have at all before), he didn't do quite as much as I would have liked on the upper eyelid. He wanted to do an eyebrow lift also, which would have helped, but I just didn't have the money. Anyway, I feel it has turned back the clock at least five years, maybe more. A full facelift usually turns the clock back about 10 years and the results usually last about that long. You can always get a relift done later if you want, which is much less invasive, but will make your first facelift look fresh again, at least that is what I have read from doing research.

Hope this helps. Two weeks off work is plenty of time for the healing process.
