Chin Implant Size - How Big? - Cosmetic / Plastic Surgery Message Board

My sister got one about a year ago. Her's was 6 mm, and her chin looks good but she says she wishes she'd gotten a 9 mm and may get it redone (she's a perfectionist about her appearance).

I am considering a 9 mm but my consultation is on February 7th so I haven't gotten the doctor's opinion yet.

So, my question is: How large was your chin implant? Wish you'd gone bigger? Smaller?

I guess you had your consultation by now. I saw an actress on one of the soap operas I had not seen in a long time, and she had a chin implant which looks ridiculous because it's so big. Whatever size you get, it should go with your features. I think this particular actress [who is older] really overdid it. It's so obvious. I hope your consultation went well.

Thanks, it didn't go as I expected. The doctor (who performed an otoplasty on me several years ago) referred me to his colleague who specializes in maxilofacial surgery. I did ask him how large of an implant he had used, and though he has not performed as many as his colleague he said that 7 mm was the largest he had used.

Have any photo links of this celeb who over did it? =)

The actress [I think her name might be Erica Sleckzack] plays Vicky on One Life to Live, and been doing so for about 35 or 30 years. She must be well over 55-57 but looks good, except for her chin [in my opinion]. It's too prominent. Best to look more natural; not overdone [just my opinion].

Before getting a chin implant, make sure your mouth is not convex. Take two mirrors and look at your facial profile. does your mouth bow out at all? or does it cave in? If it bows out, (like a muzzle), the problem is not your chin - its your teeth. I have had two plastic surgeons suggest that I get chin implants as my chin is very 'weak'. but through my own research I discovered The thing that was making my chin look small was the protrusion of my mouth out past my chin. If a convex mouth IS in fact your problem, then you'd look way way better after flattening that out. Your mouth will be more attractive, your chin will seem to come out further, it will solve several problems. Anyway, that's what I'm having done. I'd suggest anyone considering chin surgery take ALL their features into account.
