Hi Didgy,
I know you're looking for other's opinions, and you've already gotten mine, lol. My lower has taken care of the neck and jowls completely, and took about 3 hours instead of the 5 or more that I've heard about for the full. My neck was getting pretty bad and it's like it was 20 years ago now. I'm serious...Not one line or bulge anywhere and no jowls, and the neck looks thinner on the sides as well. Anyway, you've already heard me say those things, but what I wanted to add is that one difference I know of is that the incisions for the full face lift usually are more extensive. The one doctor I talked to who said he'd do a full face lift told me the incisions wouldn't just go around my ears, but also extend around the back of my head through the hair. The also go up beyond the ears and closer to the forehead, and then into the hair from there, when doing a full. He showed me pictures and that was enough for me to know I didn't want it, especially since, like you all, I wanted was the jowl and neck area taken care of. I'm sure there are other differences that others can tell you about, but seeing those pictures of the incisions for a full f/l made up my mind pretty quickly. Good luck!
