Post My surgery with Dr. Springer! (long)

TA DA!!!

I had my new girls put in yesterday!!! I’m recouping at my mom's house outside of Chicago and trying to nap, but I wanted to go to the different boards that were helpful to me in choosing a surgeon and give you a play by play description of my experience with Dr. Springer. He was wonderful and though I have some pain ( not too bad, really) I'm so excited that I could burst...erm...bad choice of words I guess! I'm going to copy and paste the description below that I just put on another board and hopefully get some more sleep - been pretty busy transforming lately.

When I opened the door to Dr. Springer's office, my nose was greeted with the smell of gardenias. I know that it probably sounds a little goofy, but I'm into aroma therapy and Sally burns scented candles in the office so it was very inviting. The office looks like someone's living room - it's cozy and mainly in black and gray tones. Sally and Carrie are real sweethearts and made my mom and I feel right at home.

Dr. Springer came out and brought me into his consulting room and we talked for a long time - he's sort of like if you have a really funny dad – I was impressed that he really wanted to make sure this was a good surgery for me – he wasn’t just after my wallet and I appreciate that. My mom the interrogator went in with us and asked him what seemed like a trillion questions (she’s thinking of getting the operation herself, so she stole some of my thunder, but she's paying for half of my surgery, so who am I to complain?)

Whatever apprehensions my mom and I had going into this were put to rest and then we were taken to the exam room where Sally said, “Okay, it’s playtime!” and helped me get possible sizes by stuffing toilet paper into my bra! Geez, this took me back to my high school days (I was a late bloomer- for the amount that actually bloomed). It felt totally ridiculous at first and we couldn’t stop laughing, but Dr. Springer has been doing this for 30 years and he says he gets more accurate estimates for size this way than using implants themselves. Have you ever had your mom and another woman stuff your bra before? Ladies, it’s a real experience…We all decided on 350 cc's and I went with Mentor high profile implants since my girls ride a little low on my chest.

I was scared to death that night and could hardly sleep – I was watching old shows on t.v. when I finally conked out I had a dream that I was Barbara Eden in that "I Dream Of Jeannie" costume . A little too single-minded? I think so.

I went to the hospital the next morning and Dr. Springer met me right before the surgery to see how I was doing - I'm glad he did, because I was getting pretty nervous at that point. I don't know about any of you, but I'm usually not too eager to have my body ripped open. He made me laugh and calmed me down and made sure I was okay.

The operation was only about an hour and when I woke up my mom was by the bed and when I looked toward my feet I noticed a whole lot more me than I remember! Girls, when I get excited, I squeal. And when I squeal, it makes my mom squeal. Needless to say, we squealed and probably annoyed everybody down the hall! About three hours later, they released me and I went home. Dr. Springer told me to bring a pillow for my breasts on the ride home and WOW am I glad I listened to him! The road was very bumpy and I suffered a little nausea, but everything passed. So far, the pain is nowhere near as bad as I expected, and Dr. Springer gave me some Vicadin if things hurt too much.

I AM SO **** EXCITED. My butt finally looks proportionate to my body! Who would have thought that would happen? Not me! Talk about a BIG bonus! I'm getting a little sleepy now, so I'm gonna take a nap and let my mom pamper me some more - she has me for two more weeks, so who am I to deny her the pleasure of spoiling me?

BTW - she's getting the surgery in a few months. That's how great things have gone. If anyone in Chicago is looking for a surgeon for breast implants, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Springer! Plus, what got me interested in the first place was his $4,999 price for October – the best price I could find on a real plastic surgeon. I'm scheduled for a few follow-up visits in the next couple of weeks, so I'll keep checking in and giving updates!
