Post Long awaited change?

For those of you who made a surgical change to a feature that has bother you for some time, how did you feel?

I'm wondering if it's liberating (I don't have to focus on my nose anymore!) or just OK (I look good, but it's no big change) or whether you're unsure of how you feel. I'm planning a septo/rhinoplasty and chin implant w/submental lipo, and I've been thinking of getting my nose done for the past 6-7 years.

I feel like it will be a relief, almost, and I'm hoping people will notice a positive change. However, when I lost a bunch of weight a few years ago, no one really noticed very much: I beleive, thankfully, that this is because I was still just their friend, or brother, or coworker...whatever Iwas before and no different.

Did anybody really feel different about themselves after surgery? Did other notice and share your excitement or no?

Hi BostonGuy,
I can say that yes, I felt totally different about myself after my surgery. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself physically. Mentally, it helped me feel better about myself, and I have a whole new attitude, and I carry myself differently, too. I had a breast augmentation, so the change was very noticeable to me....not so much other people because before the surgery, I always made myself look like I had something up top. I hadn't planned on telling anyone about my surgery, but after I got it done, I was so excited and happy that I ended up telling my whole family. They were all excited and pleased for me, and said the end result looked wonderful! I wish you luck with your surgery, and I'm sure you'll have the same positive results that I have.

Hey Boston guy! (im a former boston gal) I think that surgery has made me feel that things are (close to) the way they should be. I dont feel that different, just a lot less annoyed with different body parts. I feel that prior to surgery i think i looked at the things that bothered me like one would look at a chore list. It needs to get done so I can stop thinking about it and stop being distracted, and get on with the other more important stuff in life (ie four children and 3 businesses). when I sit down at a computer and NOT have a roll of flesh on my lap, I somehow type better (although my spelling hasn't improved yet!)Point being, (and im sure this isnt new to you) it doesn't matter if people have noticed stuff (your weight loss) it only TRULY matters if YOU notice your own efforts and to YOU they are rewarding...I have over 41 inches of scarring from surgery this past april. when a friend of mine saw the scars, she made a "puke" face. I laughed and told her to get a grip. i dont regret my surgery at all! I love the way I look in clothes and I love the way i feel. Thats all that matters...I hope this helps, warmly, jayem

I had breast augmentation a year ago yesterday and I have to echo exactly what diamondgirl said. The biggest change in me has been psychological. I feel so much better about the way I look that I have more confidence and carry myself differently. I don't dress to show them off, I did it only for me. My close friends have seen the difference in my attitude since the surgery. I have to say though, not everyone understands why someone would have plastic surgery, breast aug in particular. Best of luck to you.
