| Re: Tummy tuck scar???
I had a mini tummy tuck 3 months ago. I also had a C-section 19 years ago, which indented over time. My surgeon repaired the c-section indentation while performing the mini tummy tuck, as the indentation was noticeable (to me, anyway) in a bathing suit. My tt scar is not sensitive in an uncomfortable way - it is numb to a certain degree above the scar, which is going away over time. I would expect this scar to lie very flat. An indentation on this scar would be an undesireable complication, in my opinion. The difference is that a c-section is performed by an OB, while the tt is performed by a plastic surgeon. They have two very different goals and skill sets. The plastic surgeon concentrates on the best possible outcome of scar and contour, so he/she will spend time on feathering the underlying fat and joining the tissues in a meticulous fashion. The OB needs to get you closed as quickly and as safely as possible, which doesn't really allow for a lot of cosmetics. Personally, I think OBs should attend plastic conferences to learn more closure techniques... my plastic surgeon says he often sees c-section scars like mine made far too low, not in a natural crease and the result is not great. My tt scar is about an inch higher than my c-section scar and is still hidden in a bikini. Hope that helps.
