HeyThere HB User
Post Has anyone had a breast reduction

Just wondering because I want to know haw much tissue they can take out. My back hurts and the pressure from my straps make me feel weak. I think I have like 7 lbs together. I all hunched over from the weight. Does it eliminate your back pain?

Yes, I had one on Jan 31st. They can make them as small as you want so don't worry about that. Yes, my back feels much better, however, it does still hurt sometimes, but only because I am so used to having bad posture. You must re-train yourself to sit up straight afterwards. It takes some getting used to.
Good luck,
bye for now.

That's a good question, I do not know. I will have to ask that on my next appointment. It wasn't an issue for me whatsoever as I didn't breast feed with my daughter so I really didn't care you could say. I think in most cases you can still breast feed if that is your concern, but there is a chance that you can not. I guess it depends how important that is to you.
Good luck

It sounds like you are a good candidate for breast reduction. And more than likely your insurance will pay for it if you can actually remove a specific amount of tissue from each breast. (my insurange stipulated 16 ounces from each breast and overall body weight to include no more than 20% body fat)

I had a breast reduction at 16. I had one pound taken off each breast and my cup size after the surgery was a C.

Having the surgery was the best thing in my life. My posture improved, back pain and hand tingling went away. My C cup breast size was a good proportion to my body (135 pounds) after surgery. Harrassment no longer an issue. People treated me normally, instead of two huge breasts on legs. Dressing is more fashionable clothes was possible. It was the best decision to make in my life.

If you need to have a substancial amount of tissue removed more than likely they will remove some mild glands. I was told I would not be able to breast feed if I had children.

My mother had breast reduction before becoming pregnant with me. So I was a "formula only" baby. It made no difference to my health as a child and a adult. So, for me, I knew not being to breast feed a baby was not a real issue. Besides there are many women out there that can't produce milk and have to feed their babies on formula.

Also just recently news came out that "breast milk" only babies need to be supplemented with vitamin D to prevent rickets.

Your scars will fade with time. It took a few years for mine to fade completly.

One thing that is important to do before breast reduction is to lose excess weight. Because weight does have an effect of making breasts bigger (supposedly every ten pounds is half a cup size). The surgery should remove primarily body tissue and then fat.

Good luck.
