Swelling after rhino - Cosmetic / Plastic Surgery Message Board

I recently underwent several procedures, including rhinoplasty (June 24, to be exact). My bruising has been completely gone for a few days now, and I don't see any swelling - but the dr says there is still minimal swelling that can take up to a year to go away. When I look at my nose, I'm generally happy with it, but I'm hoping that the dr is correct about the swelling and that my nose will eventually get a bit smaller. I can definitely live with it the way it looks now, but smaller would be even better.

Can anyone tell me... after you had rhinoplasty, did you notice your nose getting any smaller after the first couple of weeks of healing? Or is it unrealistic for me to hope that my nose will eventually appear a bit smaller? I don't know if I'm expecting too much too soon. I'm not a very patient person, as you can see! Thanks for any input you can offer!

I'm pre-op. Plan on getting my nose done next year, early. I've researched it for years, and trust me, Swelling comes and goes after the first few months. After a year, is your best bet of seeing the final result. It takes time and patience, just don't stress too much and go about a happy face while you heal.

Thanks for your reply! Guess I'm just anxious to know whether there will actually be a noticeable difference a year from now, or whether the difference will be so small that I won't be able to tell. Hoping that folks who have already had the surgery will give their input too. Thanks again for your input - I will definitely keep a happy face - and I hope your surgery goes well!!!

i got my nose done 2 yrs ago (june 25

) all of my swelling went away in the first week. the doctor told me the same thing, that it's gonna take up to a year for all of the swelling to go away, but after a week it was all gone.

Thank you, I'm so scared of going under. Happy healing, and it will take time, but you will see a drastic change as soon as you get the cast removed.
