Anyone had a breast lift??? - Cosmetic / Plastic Surgery Message Board

I'm 28, and have HATED my breasts ever since they developed. They have always been saggy, kinda pointy shaped. I am really thinking of having a lift done, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about their experience with it, the cost, etc. Every doctor I call wants like $150.00 just to consult and answer my questions.

Anybody have any advice?

Hi devastated - I can understand what you're going through! I'm having breast reduction in 5 weeks, and part of the procedure is a lift. In fact, if I remember correctly, a lift would be very similar to reduction surgery, except that no tissue would be removed with a lift. I do know that it would be rare for an insurance company to cover a lift, whereas with reduction, it can be shown that it is medically necessary to make the breasts smaller, to alleviate back and neck pain, cuts in shoulders from bra strap grooving, rashes underneath, etc. Make some phone calls to various PS in your area - see if any of them would give you a consultation for free. Hi there - I'm actually not going to have to pay for very much of it - my PS submitted it to my insurance company, and they've deemed it "medically necessary" that I have the breast reduction! So they're paying for most of it. Of course, having grooves in my shoulders from my bra straps, rashes underneath my breasts, and constant back and neck pain are all contributors to having it be medically necessary. I think my out of pocket expenses will be around $500, while the entire surgery is about $6500.00. Talk to a few PS before you decide on one, and ask for references. You can also do an internet check to see if there have been any disciplinary actions against a doctor. It's not very expensive, and sure gives peace of mind! Good luck

I had a breastlift last year, and I am very pleased with my results. I paid $150 for consultation (which was applied to the cost of my surgery), and feel that the most important thing was to choose a surgeon who did LOTS of lifts. Not every PS can do a great lift; it requires real artistry as well as technical skill. I had always disliked my breasts, too, and after 2 pregnancies, and a weight loss of nearly 100 lbs., they were very stretched out and saggy. I started and ended up a 36C, only now I have a pretty shape. I also had my areolas reduced, and that was worth it all by itself! It was expensive ($8000 plus cost of surgical suite and anaesthesia), but I had it done by a Park Avenue doctor in NYC. Do your research, bring pictures of how you would like to look. My PS laughed when he told me that women come in saying they want to look "natural" and then show him pictures of implanted breasts. Have a realistic expectation as to your outcome. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Good luck to you, whatever you decide.
