Post Tummy Tuck Vs. C-Section

I have been reading these post's about Tummy Tucks and alot of you have said it really hurts. I was wondering has anyone had a c-section and later a tummy tuck. Is it the same pain? Or can you have a tummy tuck after you have a c-section?

Yes you can have a TT after a c section. some women also have their c section scar removed ( but get a much longer one instead). It seems to be a 50/50 consensus as to which is more painful.[removed]

Hi, I've had both. I had two c-sections and a few years after my last one, decided to have a tummy tuck. Is there a difference? Absolutely!!!! In my experience....the c-sections were a picnic in the park compared to the tummy tuck!

I'll add that I don't regret having the TT, but I had no idea it would be such a long recovery, involve so much pain for several weeks afterwards, leave me tired for 3 months even after I was back to my normal routine, and leave me with a scar that is twice as bad as the C-section scars. The scar goes from the back of one hip all the way down to the pelvic area and back up to the back of the other hip, and is wider at the pelvic area than any of my c-section scarring was.

That said, would I do it again? Yes, because I love the final results that took about a year to finally be the "end result" after swelling and numbness were gone..... but I would only do it after thoroughly understanding the down-time involved and the pain involved.

My doctor only gave pain meds for the first 4-5 days, unlike a lot of posters in the past who said they took pain meds for a month! My doc also told me I could probably go back to work in 10-14 days! What a joke...I couldn't even stand up straight yet at that point because of the tightening of the stomach muscles, and the pain was tough to get through. I've yet to hear of a plastic surgeon who is honest about the amount of down time or pain involved with a TT, so be sure you read other people's experiences on every board you can find before deciding if it's right for you. The ones that have been through it are the ones to take heed from. This is major surgery....but if you're willing to go through the healing time and pain then I would say it's worth it. Good luck.
