Nose Job revision - Cosmetic / Plastic Surgery Message Board

How often do nose job revisions occur? I noticed a lot of people here stated that they need to get a nose job revision. I am wondering why you guys needed a revision? What happened to your nose? If I get a nose job I want it to be perfect the first time. Hell I will be paying the BIG BUCKS for this procedure.

I just had a revision. EVERY surgeon I spoke to before I had my first surgery told me that it is common to have two surgeries and that I may need a second. And, each of those physicians told me that the second would be at no fee but I would have to pay the anesthesiologist. Generally, revisions are done with the cartilagenous portion of your nose-the tip. Cartilage is a tricky thing and the healing of it is an art. Cartilage also has "memory". Also, after your first surgery, you may have scar tissue growth-this is not the fault of your doctor but of your own body. You can't control that nor can your doctor. So, if you are considering nose surgery, make sure you talk to plenty of doctors and be sure that if a second revision is needed, that the doctor assumes responsibility of that surgery..not you.

Revisions are common in rhinoplasty.From several Docs
I've consulted with they range from 10-15%

My surgeon not only made me pay for my revision, but he screwed up my nose 100-fold by disregarding my objectives and modifying parts of my nose that I insisted he leave alone. Now I'm planning to hire Denenberg and shell out serious money--money I don't currently have: I'm taking out a HUGE loan for this gamble.

Sorry to hear about your surgery Zebra. I hope you are successful...
I think it is wrong to make you pay for revisions.
My nose is healing up great and I don't think I will mess with it anymore-it is not perfectly aligned on my face but then again, no one's nose is (or, VERY few people do have perfect symmetry).

Did you wait at least a year before your second revision? My doc. would not dare touch my nose until a year after, he told me that the healing process can take that long and if you start modifying it before it is done healing, you can get bad scar tissue formation which in turn gives you malformed results. Also, getting a sunburn on your nose while it is healing will have the potential to cause problems and you can't wear glasses or sunglasses either.
