anyone who's had septorhinoplasty done have a bad smell in nose? - Cosmetic / Plastic Surgery Message Board

I had my surgery 4 wks ago and for the last 2 weeks
I've had a nasty smell when I breath in or blow my nose..I mentioned it to my docotr and he said it was from the crusting..lovely..proceeded to pull out a 2 inch long bloody crust that stunk so bad I started to gag..is this normal? he also suggested I make my own nasal saline which I have been using...I guess the ocean spray is not working..I also had endoscopic sinus surgery so could this stuff be from my sinuses?

I had my surgery almost 3 weeks ago and every time I blow my nose dried blood comes out and it smells disgusting. I've been using ocean spray but it is not stopping the smell. What is in your own saline? And did your Dr. say how long the smell would last?

my doctor said it was from the crust(lovely)..he suctioned out my nose everytime I went and one time he pulled out a long bloody crust and it smelled so bad..after that he told me to make a solution of a jar of water 2 tbls of kosher salt and I tbls of baking soda..use a baby syringe and shoot it up into your nose 2-3x a day lean over the sink and let it run out ..it took the smell away

i have heard a few other people complain of this but i personally didnt experience it with my own rhinoplasty. i did not have any sinus work done...

That post about the saline solution was interesting....I've been doing a little research on a drug called ciprofloxacin which clears one of "ozema" (putrid smell from the nose)
