experiences with laser for pigmentation? - Cosmetic / Plastic Surgery Message Board

i have some pigmentation from my pregnancies and am considering laser. they said for 7-10 days after a session the skin looks awful like chocolate splattered on it then it crusts off?? is this true??
any experiences?
i also heard that you need to do needling with vit C before and after the procedures?

My doc wants me to have laser for my BCP mask but since I do landscaping I need to wait till the fall winter months so that I can be out of the sun.

I have seen on Dr. 90210 and through researching sites that certain lasers can have a toll on the skin. The best way I can describe is if you were to take a brown paper bag tear it into little peices place them in water to make them limp and then stick them on your face. That's what quite a few pictures I seen looked like.

Chemical peels have the same effect but for some peels you need to be sedated. As far as the vit c treatments go my derm did not say anything about that. However, she applies Vit C after alot of her treatments as a given.

I'm suppose to get the Fraxel done.

I've had facial hyperpigmentation removed by laser 3 times. The procedure doesn't take long and feels like tiny rubberband snaps. For about a week or so you will have a scab. Be sure to keep it moist with neosporin or whatever your Dr suggests. Don't pick the scab because it can scar. It is really no big deal at all. My Dr told me I can put makeup on it if I want but I chose not to.

Oh, and about the vitamin C thing, I didn't do anything and wasn't advised to. I would follow your Dr's recommendations
