Tummy tuck on Monday!!

I'm the first surgery on Monday (thankful I'm first) and I'm having a full TT. Had my preop yesterday so I'm set on specifics. My question is to anyone who's had a TT regarding SPANX. When did you switch from the undergarment that the doctor provides to the SPANX and how did you know which size and what type to buy. They're expensive so I really don't want to buy the wrong one. I know it's not required I buy one or even use one but I've read a lot of comments from people who just swore by them.

Thanks!

Re: Tummy tuck on Monday!!

Hi,

Post TT for 1&1/2 years now; Love It and wish I had done it earlier.

I have not heard of Spanx, but I think what ever you get, you should get it to come up high and not stop at the waist. Usually the skin is lifted fairly high up and you will need support to hold it back in place for adhering.
The garment you will get after surgery will probably be high up, and might be held together with velcro. Also, it could be a wrap type.

I purchased a pull up bodyshaper from Belks, it came all the way up under my breasts. It gave me strong support around my rib area, and waist and had a panel at the tummy area.
My PS said to purchase something that did come up high, and also to use as an alternate between washing the garments. Which you will want to wash as soon and as often as you can.

I could not find a body shaper with out staves....so I just took the staves out. It had hook & eyes in the crotch area and was more comfortable then the one I got from the hospital. I would alternate between the two.

ALSO.... made sure I wore it the required time.
MY PS told me six weeks, but other people have said they only were required for 4 weeks.

Good Luck and I know you will be happy!

Re: Tummy tuck on Monday!!

I had my TT 2 months ago and never been happier !! I ordered the Spanx "higher power" pantie...It comes up to your bra line and is mid thigh. The first time is a little tought to put on, but boy is it worth it....once it is one it feels so good you forget it's there. It also has an open crotch (which comes in handy)....the reason I wanted the mid calf, is because my thighs are large and some of the control high panties I bought cut into me at the panty line on your upper leg. I now feel "lost" without them on sometimes.
I had to order mine - couldn't find this type in a store. They do have a sizing chart and they have no "stays" in them...all nice and smooth!! The only compression I got from the doctor was the wrap around type with velcro which is great while your drianage tubes are in.
Good luck on your surgery and keep me posted on your updates !!!

Re: Tummy tuck on Monday!!

Thanks for the advice. It's 4 days post op and I could see immediate results the day after. What a surgery and so far, WORTH the money! The upper part of my abdomen is so tight and swollen though. I guess that's normal. It pooches out much further than the lower abdomen now which is the opposite of how it was pre surgery - very strange. Anyway, I was curious how long it took for your swelling to go down.

Re: Tummy tuck on Monday!!

it takes a long time for the swelling to go away...this tightness even longer..at least for me. I'm 2 1/2 months and just really noticing the swelling really going away. PS told me it could take some people even 4 months because of all the stitching done inside to tighten the muscles.
So glad you are doing okay!! I feel so great now, when I put jeans on !!!!
Happy Holidays !!!!
