Question Breast reduction?

I've been considering breast reduction for a number of years now but it's only been the last about 2 years that I've actively persued it. I am in my mid 20's and am a 32 J. I have a number of back problems, can't find bras that fit, and my shoulders bleed from the straps rubbing them raw so bad. I feel like my shoulders are permenately indented from the straps. I have an appointment with the plastic surgeon for the first time in mid June. What I want to know is how much IV use is required. I am a three time cancer survivor and have very bad veins. Doctors have recommended I have a port put in so they no longer have to find a vein but my oncologist says my immune system isn't strong enough for a port. So I'm looking into other options and am wondering if they are worth the work or not. Which is why I want to know about the IV use. I know they will need one for the surgery itself but how long after the surgery do they use one?

Re: Breast reduction?

Cardshark, I didn't have a breast reduction but basically the surgery I had was about the same. I had my ruptured breast implants removed, all my breast tissue removed, tissue moved up from my rib area and a lift. Pretty much the same thing. It was a 2/12 hour surgery but it takes time trying to get the silicone out. I had an IV put in a few minutes before the surgery and it was taken out about an hour after the surgery. I stayed at a hotel near the hospital (UCLA) and then went back the next day for a check up. I had drains in each breast for a couple of days. No IV though. I hope my answer is better than nothing since no one else has responded yet to your question
