| What would you do in this situation?
I had juvederm injected into the hollows under my eyes about 2 months ago.
The results have been pretty atrocious-- where I used to have a loss of fat (or depression) underneath my eyes, I now have a loss of fat directly underneath my eyes, then a crescent shaped purple swelling underneath each eye, and another depression below. To put it bluntly, I'm very very disappointed in the outcome.
A few days after the procedure, I noticed the swelling beginning and called the doctor who performed the surgery, he told me to wait a couple of weeks and then make an appointment to see him if the swelling persisted. It did, and I went back 2 weeks later and he said to wait a month or so and come back again. I did wait, and the swelling intensified and so did the depression underneath it. He said he was unsure what the problem was and that I should come back again in one more month. I just saw him yesterday, which was 2 months after the procedure, and he told me there is nothing he can do, he said the problem was a "tindel effect" and not his fault and he recommended that I see a more experienced dermatologist. He also recommended a mineral concealer and said if I want he would order it for me and pass on the cost to me. Lastly, he told me that the swelling would take about 6-8 months to disappear and I would just have to wait it out.
I was very upset leaving his office, because when I did some research I found some evidence that says the "tindle effect" is usually the result of the doctor injecting the juvederm too close to the surface. I've also read accounts by other people with the same problem, who say the swelling did not go away completely, and when it did, they were left with a baggy, wrinkled area underneath their eye.
I'm not even sure what I should do at this point. I have to wear very heavy concealer, base, and powder to leave my house because my eye area is such a mess. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had the same experience? Any thoughts, advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated!
