I am considering getting laser removal on a tattoo on my right shoulder. In all the information I've found they talk about the terrible pain that the laser causes. I was wondering if anyone has had a tattoo removed where the area had been numbed or anesthetic injected into the area?

I have been going for laser removal treatments for a tattoo on my neck. It's a sensitive area to begin with and the laser hurts a lot! They apply a topical numbing cream but honestly it doesn't help much. I wish I could have an anesthetic injection, but they don't do that where I go. The good news is the pain is only during the zapping. Once they stop it doesn't hurt. (it's tender and sore afterwards.)

Thanks for the info. I found a place in another city where the doctor will use an injected anaesthetic. I may just have to make the 3 hour trip there to have treatments. In our city the procedure is performed by technicians and I'm guessing they don't have a license to enable them to use an injectable. My tattoo is on my right shoulder blade and about 7" x 4" so I'm just not prepared to take that amount of pain!
