Post Costochondritis

Anyone out there have this that can tell me more about it, what it feels like, how bad the pain is, what helps, what makes it worse, successful treatment/management?

My autistic son has this and seems to be really badly affected by it on a daily basis. He can't really explain about it. He has chest, abdominal and back pain. It seems to be worse about 2 hours after eating a heavy meal, and also worsens when anxious.

Because he also has Marfan's Syndrome, at first the doctor thought it may have been a dissecting aorta, but the cardiologist ruled that out by echocardiogram.

He also has Mitral Valve Prolapse, but that supposedly has not worsened since first diagnosed 2 years ago according to the echocardiogram.

So doc. says it must be costochondritis.

Any replies appreciated.

costochondritis is an inflamation of the rib cage and sternum..it usually goes away on its own..dr's usually only treat the symtoms..i suffered from this for about 2 years..it finally went away..i had pain in my sternum, hurt when lifting, sneezing, or if i had been in the same position for extended periods of time, like upon rising in the mornings
