Re: ive had costochondritis for 3 months now how long can i expect the condition to l
Some of my fibro *flares* last for months. The one I'm having right now, lower back and buttock pain, has been going on for 4 months already. I'm going to a back specialist just to make sure it's not something else with my back. Have you seen a doctor about this?

Re: ive had costochondritis for 3 months now how long can i expect the condition to l
i have had costo for many years now, it flares when i do something like sweeping a floor or using my chest muscles. i find that even wearing a new bra can set it off. There are many things that will set this off and start the pain, you have to make sure you are not doing something over and over that is making the pain stay with you. so rest is the best thing and then you can clear it somewhat and watch for the movements that set you off. Driving is something that aggravates, also so lifting and ironing, of course vacuuming the floors anything that is heavy on that upper area.
I hope this is helpful.

the last time i had costo, my rheumy gave me a shot in the arm on the side that was acting up. i had asked him why the arm...he said it would help the whole area that was inflammed, and it did.
i don't get costo very often....maybe 3-4 times a yr.
hope this helped...welcome to the boards, bevann

Hi Gemma! Welcome to the board! I see you're from England - how's the weather (does it bother FMS?). Costo is such a painful condition and wearing a bra was totally unbearable. I started the guafenesin protocol, and the first thing to go was the costo. You might want to research this protocol as an option for yourself.

I had it so bad once I went tot he hospital because I thought it was my heart. I recall taking 2 Vicodin's, 2 Alveve and 2 Tylonol one time and it still didn't take the pain away. A doctor gave me the anti inflammatory Relefan which worked great for me.
