Early july i was sick for 3 weeks with a upper respitory virus. The day after i felt better i started getting this dull ache/pressure under my right rib. Its been about 5 weeks and its moved to my side and back ribs. Feels weird to breath deep or lay on my back. My ribs are sensitive too.im not coughing or anything like that. Its more like a mucsle pull feeling. Does it sound like Costochondritis? According to the symptoms ive read it does. Ive heard it can last for months. I have no insurance so i cant go to a doctor. Its pretty dull now but sesitive to touch. Its under my breast to a bit. Never been bad enough to justify going to the er.
What can i do for relief? Ive noticed when im bloated with my ibs it acts up more.
At first i thought it was gallstones or kidney stones but ive ruled out both. Im peeing fine and i have no gallbladder. My ibs never causes these type of symptoms. I do have a simple cyst on my right kidney from years ago but i doubt its that. Just seems weird this came on right after a chest cold. Its the sensitive ribs that make me believe its Costochondritis.
Hi sorry I am new to this forum... I don't want to say that you have got costochondritis or not as I am not a doctor so I would suggest getting it checked out as it may not be costochondritis at all and instead be something completely different.
I have been diagnosed with costo, in fact I have textbook costo but the doctor thinks it should be gone by now and so may be something else. I think you need to see a doctor just to be on the safe side!

Thanks for the reply. I went to the ER on monday and found out its bilary colic. Too bad ill have to live with it until i can afford treatment from a specialist.
When I had it, it was really painful at the sternum and only there. It may have spread a tiny bit but my understanding is that it is in the soft tissue which connects the ribs to the sternum.
Mine started with lyme disease and eventually subsided (thanks goodness) but it was awful!
Its bilary colic im told. But ive read costo can cause my symptoms too. My bloodwork was all clear so im dealing with it until i can afford to see a specialist.
