Hello everyone, my name is Kimberly im new on the forum. I have been diagnosed with Costochondritis and have been suffering for over a year with it now. I first noticed it a few months after I had my first baby and went to the ER with left chest, shoulder and arm pain. They diagnosed it as Costochondritis. Is it normal to have it this long? I have been seeing my doctor, but she only prescribed me pain killers.. dont really know what to do next. Its painful everyday and gets worse with activity which sucks because im lifting my toddler all day. Sometimes its clears up for maybe a week or two then comes back. I went swimming the other week and it made it really bad. I had a severe sharp pain under my left ribs which was worse if I sneezed or inhaled deeply. It lasted a few days. Does all this sound like Costochondritis

My first bout lasted for many months as well. It does indeed sound like it, but have you been evaluated for Gerd as well? I believe that an anti-inflammatory is one of the best treatments for costo, rather than pain killers and it took several shots of cortisone and anti-inflammatories for mine to go away. I know it is extremely painful and I do wish you the best.
