Hi there! I am not sure how long you have had your J pouch. I have had my J-pouch for about 9 years. The first 1-2 years I had some issues off and on with pouchitis. I stayed in close contact with my surgeon. He would prescribe Cipro and sometimes Flagyl to get it under control. I was told it was the bodies way of acclimating to the new "set up", but it is important to have a physician follow you to make sure the pouch is still viable, healing well, etc. I have not had many issues since, except for occasional "friability" (easy bleeding) of the external and internal tissues because of the frequent stools and the scar tissue. However, just because we've had our colons removed doesn't mean the UC is gone from our bodies. I still suffer with inflammation in other areas of my body such as my joints. I wish you health and luck in the future.
