Question New and need information on carrier screening

HI...

I'm new to this message board, and I have a question... , I am trying to get pregnant by means of artificial insemination and I have just found out that the sperm donor I have choosen has CF. I, however, have never even been tested. I need to know where do I have this done at? Just any general doctor's office or someplace certain. I live in central Alabama and would prefer someplace local.

Also I am not going to be paying for the test myself, nor using insurance. The foundation my donor is through has told me to send the bill to them, does anyone know a place that will test and send the bill to a foundation?

Please, any help would be great!!!

THANKS

Re: New and need information on carrier screening

Hi- I'm a Mom of a 22 mo son with CF-- you can get tested at your OBGYN's office, that would probably be the easiest. You may have to pay & the foundation reimburse you.

My big question for you is.......... are you SURE your donor has CF, or is he a carrier? Most males, (95% of them) with CF are sterile, due to a complication with their vas deferens.

Thanks for the reply ... After re-reading the information I was given very carefully, it turns out that he (donor) has tested positive for being a carrier. He doesn't actually have CF.
