Hi my boyfriends 2 sisters have CF. My mom is worried that if my BF and I ever decide to have kids that they will have CF. How common is it to be passed down? He dosent have it but could he have it in his Genes? Thanks for all the replys

CF happens when you have 2 CFTR Mutations,a person with 1 CFTR Mutation and one normal one is called a carrier.A carrier in most cases has no symptoms.Not all CFTR Mutations can be indentified.

When 2 CF Carriers have a child there is a 25% that the child will have CF,a 25% chance the child won't have CF and won't be a carrier and a 50% chance the child will be a carrier

Thanks is there a way you can know if you are a carrier? Is it common for someone to have a siblin to have CF and your child have it? Thanks for the reply!
