Re: Does CF deteriorate bone?
I'm not in the medical faternity but I have been around CF for almost 16 years.
My daughter was diagnosed at 5 weeks in 1991.
I live in Australia. Over here we participated in a study regarding bone density in people with CF.
It was found that the bones do tend to be weaker in CF and as they get older a lot of them can develop osteoporosis.
I guess that their bodies just use so much of the goodness that we put into them to keep well. If you do a search on CF and bones you'll find a couple of studies and other info that might answer some of your questions.
All the best for your nephew.i hope he's feeleing better soon.
