my son is 10 and he has had two surgeries for his sinuses. He is always having infections.
When he was under the age of 3, he always got bronchitis, pnuemonia, ear infections, was on meds for constipation, he was born very premature so his weight was always low for his age.
He had tubes in ears, sinus surgery at age 5, than again at 9.
We were told he had cough induced asthma --like when he gets sick. which was a problem when he was younger but since than seems to do ok.he hasnt had much of a problem with it since a cold this summer.
He still has hard solid poops, his sinuses are always infected, not a big eater and not the most active kid, he is skinny
he has a cough from time to time.
someone had mentioned CF , should I look into it. can it be mild and not be in all parts of the body?
I just dont know what to think.

Kids are usually diagnosed at an earlier age than 10, it would be strange (but not impossible) if the doctors hadn't picked up on it by now.

Sinus infections and lung problems are definitely a major signs of CF.
Also constipation can be a sign as well. One thing that usually doesn't change or go away is the cough. A regular cough is almost always present, and usually mucous is brought up with the coughing. A salty taste to a person's skin may also be present with CF.

You say your son is skinny, but is he underweight, and/or shorter than average boys his age? Usually there is a healthy appetite with CF patients but poor weight gain.

If you have any doubt, call your son's doctor and discuss CF with him/her. They'll either reassure you, or book your son for a test that definitively determines whether he has CF. Good luck.
