writing a letter? - Death & Dying Message Board

A guy whom I had been dating a short while passed away when we were 15. I still think about him daily... And I visit his grave every November 16th... and I never forget a birthday... Or the anniversery of our first date... I've been thinking lately about writting a short letter to his mom (I only met her twice, I doubt she'd even remember me) just telling her how wonderful her son was, and how big of an impact he made on my life during the short time I knew him (about a year)... He died 7 years ago. Is it 'too late' to send a letter? Would I just be stiring up painful memories, or would it mean something to know that 7 years later someone still remembers him and what a wonderful person he was?

I think that would be a GREAT idea! How thoughtful of you to want to do that. I think that would be a good thing for the mom and probably for you too. This time of year might be hard for her, so now would be a perfect time. I don't think it would upset her since it has been a while since his death. Good idea!

I know if I was in the mom shoes, it would make me proud to know that someone thought my son was a wonderful person.

def, send that letter! his mother will cry, but its been 7 years... she wants to hear something wonderful like this. and wow, you're truly a good girlfriend, i know girls who dont remember me 2 years later, haha. keep your head up darlin....

What a wonderful person he must have been to leave such a place in your heart in a brief time.

Its never to late to follow your heart. There is a reason this has come to your mind. Maybe you will be the messenger that his mother needs.
