Been thinking a lot recently... - Death & Dying Message Board

Hello everyone. Last week a good friend of mine lost her dad to cancer. I was devastated for her because he was only 55 and she had just had her daughter - his first grandchild. Anyway, this has brought a lot of thoughts to me. I lost three grandparents when I was very young and at the time I didn't fully understand, but now I know more. Also, I am past that "I am invincible" stage and I am more than aware that at any moment, someone you love dearly, or yourself, could not be here anymore. I do believe that there is life after death of some sort. I was reading a post further down this board and it was talking about how our spirit just borrows a shell for a while and eventually the shell wears out but the spirit lives on. So this has got me thinking about life after death. When I was young I always imagined Heaven as a wonderful place where I would see everyone who went before me. But now that I am older, I have always wondered how we will know who is who, or will we? Is it normal to be so caught up in all of this? I am only 20 but for the longest time it's been on my mind a lot.

death seems to quickly remind us of our immortality.. with each funeral i go to i find myself reminded how precious each moment is.. how much i love loved ones and how quickly they can be taken.. I think its perfectly normal to wonder about life after death but if it b'comes an obsession, then that is not healthy.. personally, i feel very fortunate to be saved by the Grace of Jesus, so i know where i am going and i know i will see some of my loved ones in heaven one day, at the same time, i also know there are some i will not see again.. physical death is not the end.. keep wondering, keep searching.. just dont b'come obsessed
