it depends on the patient. Sometimes you can and sometimes its better to delay it. Only you know. But if you do, try to stress that she didn't suffer and if he's sick and it will result in his passing then say that she left early to pave the way for him and will be seeing him soon.

Pray to God, he'll give you the strength to do it and the right things to say.
