Hello Cathydownunder. I am so so very sorry that you lost your pet. It's so hard and no one is ever prepared. I have lots many dogs along the way in my life and I grieved so hard. I haven't gotten any more animals because it hurts so bad. But time will heal things. Just take it a day at a time. Wishing you the best!

Cathy, I am so sorry you have lost your best friend-I never really felt the love I recieve from my pets or anything near from any person and I really do know how you feel. It is devastating and it leaves you so empty. I lost 2 precious dogs in my arms in the middle of the night. One a Boston Terrier had Cushings and woke me up in the middle of the night, I had time to pick her up and hold her and she had a heart attack-this dog taught me what love is all about, she was my girl. My other baby a male French Bulldog began having seizures at 6 years old-we went through a lot of traumatic nights and days before he had the worst seizure imaginable. I still have not got over that one yet and now I have 2 Bostons and 2 French Bulldogs-I know I set myself up but I will not be without. I love my babies so much and I feel your pain. I really do. One thing that made me feel better was feeling they knew I was with them till the end. Their love is unconditional and being there in the final moment is what true friendship is about.

I have lost my mother a few years back and believe me this is just as bad.
To have my constant companion suddenly gone is going to take a lot of adjusting to. I will cry and vent, get angry and yell.....whatever it takes.....then I will give thanks for the time we had together and the joy he brought to our lives.
sorry for your loss. but think you would get more empathey on another board. losing a pet can be very sad. I have a 10 year old dashund now. i lost my husband last nov. and also my only son . so i do understand. take care disney world

no no. you havent offended anyone.go to grief and loss and they tell you to go to another board. losing a loved pet is like losing a love one. just thought you would get more empathy from ones that are dealing with the loss of a pet.
