| Total neck fusion
I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in 1992, in 2007 I started having what feel like mini seizures leaving a metal taste in my mouth after a short black out. I was also having headpain that felt like lighting runnin up the back of my head over my ear and behind my eyes. After a MRI in May of 2011 I was told that I was a candidate for a total neck fusion down to the T1, but they recommended putting it off until I could absolutely not stand the pain anymore. It will also leave me with zero range of motion above the shoulders. The pain has gotten more intense and is almost all the time, my memory is foggy often, I am told due to inflammation.
Has anyone out there had this surgery and what was the outcome, do you recommend it? My husband is very firmly opposed due to complications with the thoracic fusion I had last summer(it greatly releived the very sharp thoracic pain though). Is anyone aware of options such as disc replacement?
