I have 2 children that went through braces, 6yrs. apart. And I had them myself as a youngster. The best thing you can do is give her Ibuprophen/Nuprin/Advil, about 2hrs. prior to the visit. My kids complained of a "tight" feeling and later soreness, hence the need for meds. Be sure to read all the info., provided by the Orthodontist, as far as pain/care/treatment, it should better help you understand the process. And oh yeah, one more thing.....Lots of soft foods afterwards, mashed potatoes, bananas, yougart, jello, puddings, etc. Even foods too hot or too cold can aggrevate newly installed braces, but all of this will last for only a few days.
