I don't smoke, I don't drink coffee or tea, I brush twice daily (and I think sometimes I even brush a little TOO hard), but I have noticed that all my teeth are going yellow slowly but surely.
What causes this? Is there anything I can do to slow down this process? I am not looking for teeth whiteners etc because I know those are just cosmetic and temporary.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but sometimes I get a strong acidic taste in my mouth, most noticeable when I wake up in the morning.
Can stress cause this?
Is it safe to make a mouthwash by mixing Bicarbonate of Soda with water? Is it possible to replace toothpaste by brushing with Bicarbonate of Soda?
Also, I don't know if you go to dentist every 6 months, but if you don't your teeth will get more yellow, a lot sooner than if you went to the dentist. My teeth are really white, because I go to the dentist, and because I got them bleached once a couple years ago.
I do go the dentist regularly NOW, but there has been a few years in the middle where I did not.
About bleaching, is it carried out by the dentist? I have four barely visible fillings in my front teeth. I think my dentist told me that bleaching would cause the fillings to stick out like sore thumbs due to the teeth being bleached white and the fillings appearing yellower against the white. I would've thought that the fillings would also be bleached white. Isn't this the case?
I am not really sure, I would call a dentist and see what they thought. I actually did it myself with Crest White Strips. I am about to bleach them again, there are different ways to do it, but my teeth are so white, I do not see the point in bleaching them again, I may get invisilign to bring my teeth more together and not such an overbite, but my teeth are nice, just I want them perfect lol. I actually drink soda regularly too, but I brush my teeth all the time sometimes 3-4 times a day. I homeschool so, I also use to be OCD a lot. I brush using Dual Action Whitening with Crest I like Cool Mint, Fresh Mint is okay, but I like the toothpaste lol. I am sure there is some method of bleaching them if you do want them whiter.
I found this article in here somewhere here on the dental forum but it was originally started on the Beauty forum. I have tried it for a couple of weeks now and it really does work. http://www.healthboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=135279
I think I'll do both suggestions (have a chat with my dentist AND look into the ear drops).
One of the problems I can see is that there are dark arches at the top of all my front teeth. I fear that these might look even darker if I were to use the ear (teeth) drops. Also, my fillings are at the FRONT of my FRONT teeth. Surely they will become more noticeable.
