lump on gum

I have a lump right below my canine tooth, it hasn't been there very long, probably a week. I was at the dentist less than a month ago and was told everything looked good (but no x-rays were done). So it's developed since then. It hasn't gotten any larger, it doesn't hurt, it's not sore, it doesn't interfere with eating or swallowing. I wouldn't have known it was there if I hadn't seen it while brushing my teeth. I don't have any toothaches or any pain. Any idea what this could be?
