Just had 1 wisdom tooth removed yesterday (not impacted), that was infected, and dentist put in a few stitches and put me on antiobiotics for 5 days to be safe.

What I'm wondering about is this:

What happens after the blood clot forms? Does it stay there and just disintegrate by itself? How long do you have to worry about it being dislodged, falling out?

Does the skin and bone start growing over the clot? Is that how it heals?


What about dry socket? How long after the extraction, do you have to worry about it? When can I relax and know I won't get it?

How about rinsing? I was told I could start today ... but won't that dislodge the blood clot? How careful do I have to be?

What about eating? Does drinking liquids disturb the clot?

I forgot what they told me .. but how soon can you start eating other foods besides 'soft' ???
