Can't close my jaw

The title pretty much says it. A few days ago I woke up with a horrible pain on the right side of my jaw. It hurt to close or open it. I went to the dentist and he said the muscle in my jaw was torn and gave me a prescription for ib proffin and told me to eat soft foods and to keep ice packs on my jaw. Well the pain is gone and I can open my jaw, the only problem is I can't close it. It's not a question of pain, I just can't close it. Is it that the muscle is still swollen and restricting the jaw or is it possible that it is displaced? And if so what do I have to do? If anyone can answer my question I appreciate it.

Thanks,

Rachel
