So Did the Dentist Screw Me up?
I wish just once I could go to someone in the medical community who would make things better for me, instead of worse.
Here's my story. I started having mild tooth ache bad back in Feb, and decided to go to a local dentist. He said I had an infection caused by my wisdom teeth. Apparently, food got trapped there. He offered me the choice of having the tooth removed right then, even pulling all 4 wisdoms. I asked him how long it would take the get the tooth out, and he said no longer than 15 minutes. He was a young dentist, and I put my trust in him and said let's get it down.
After 15 minutes of yanking, I thought it was over, but he gave me the bad news. The tooth would not budge, and I would need to see an oral surgeon.
I saw the surgeon yesterday, and he told me that the dentist should not have even attempted the extraction. Basically, the dentist was able to saw off the crown part so now my tooth is just the two prongs buried deep. The surgeon said I had no choice now. The tooth must be extracted or I will get bad infections. So now I am looking at an expensive extraction, $700 bucks thanks to the dentist. Do patient's have any legal rights in this type of case? The dentist should be paying for my surgery!
