I've had my dentures (upper and lower..full plates) for 3 yrs. I have always had to use adhesive to hold them in and have heard (from some) that isn't "normal". Should correct fitting dentures require adhesive?? I know they need to be relined now (have never had a reline) but am wondering if I should just find a new dentist? The one who made these seems to think it's normal to have to use adhesive. I might add...this is the second set of dentures I've had made. The originals were worse fitting than these! I'm in the Houston area..and at a loss.
After three years I would think that whatever was going to shrink had already done so. I would find another dentist and either have the ones you have hard relined or if you can afford it, get new ones made. You might want to call dental labs in your area and ask them who the recommend as far as who does the best work with dentures. that is what I did before I got mine made. He came highly recommended by the dental lab and he has done great work.
I have had relines done, also had 3 sets of teeth made.My gums are still shrinking.I use an adhesive for safety,in case i eat something & the bottom plate slips.
I choked on a partial once while eating salad.I prefere using an adhesive........
