They put an IV in my arm and told me they were going to give me a little something to make me relax a little (I was obviously VERY stressed). They were talking to me and that's all I remember about that. Waking up was just like waking up when you're not quite ready. They had me get up and walk to a recovery room type place. I was in there for a little bit and kind of nodded off. The nurse was giving my husband all of the instructions for care for the remainder of the day...I had an appointment at my regular dentist as well, and stayed awake enough for that. Actually, after I left the surgeons, I didn't sleep until I got home and that was a few hours later.
I was really anxious about the whole going to sleep thing just like you. Knowing what I know now, I would NOT get myself worked up about it if I had to do it again.
Hope this helps!
