XTreme Makeover's Porcelain Veneers - Dental Health Message Board

Each time I see porcelain veneers on Extreme Makeover they look to me like piano keys. Big, bright white and square.

Has anyone else noticed it? Sometimes the teeth look so large the person can barely close his or her lips. Does this nice, experienced dentist not know that natural teeth are:

VARIOUS SIZES AND SHAPES
A NICE, SOFT WHITE. NOT GLARING WHITE.

Our local cosmetic dentist does all his office worker's teeth and I mean to tell you they look Real ! I just do not understand it.

I totally agree with you! Every time I watch that show I always think that the teeth, although a hugh improvement over what most patients had, look fake. And you're right about them looking too big.

I think, but am not certain, that if you start with a patient with teensy teeth you can end up with a nice look. But if the patient has big rocks for teeth? Then, they need to be warned!! LOL
My husband's daughter in law has veneers and they're nice and small. How did I know she got them done? The color. lol

I don't watch the show much. I know that Dr. Dorfman is one of the best well known dentist around. Not everyone has then kind of teeth and smile for small teeth. Sometimes that is done to close spaces or make the teeth longer for a better look. I really don't know. I cases i have seen on the show looked good to me. I have also meet one of the people who had veeners done on the show and they looked perfectly natural. Everyone of course notice the color. When someone does this the what that white smile. I am sure that the patient has a choice in this process. The patient is in temps for awhile while the veeners are being handmade at a lab. When the patients is put in the veeners they are told that temps are made to look like the final product even color. So if there is something they don't like then they say something before the final product is seated. Hopefully they don't wait to longer and the veeners get made first. I will have to watch the show a few more teeth and if i can find out what you are talking about. The few times i have watched i haven't noticed. I do know that Dr. Dorfman is very well known and suppose to be one of the best dentist.

What is Jeff Dorfman's involvement with Xtreme Makeover? Just curious! (don't have access to US TV)
