Help!! New liner is killing me

Been one month since I got a soft liner put in my dentures. Went back today.I addressed the issue of my teeth and gums showing so much also.He took some more impressions using some blue and white stuff, made a new liner and did some more adjustments on them.When he put them in my mouth I told him that they hurt in certain spots, and he went out to supposedly file or trim them down, whatever.Three times we tried them and all three times they still hurt in the same spots that I had told him about.He said that my gums were obviously still tender and put a bunch of adhesive on the dentures and put them in my mouth.My mouth felt like it was full of clay. After I got my soft liner a month ago they felt so comfortable, and I haven't had to use any adhesive at all to keep them in.Since I got this other liner put in them today, my sides of my gums on the top feel like someone is sticking pins in them.They are pinching so bad.As far as the way they looked before with too much gum showing, he added more material to the base of the plate and they still look the same on the top. The bottom ones look better though.Don't know if it is normal to have pain after getting this liner, if I should give it a few days, or go back in the morning.Any input my anybody would be most helpful.Thanks

Re: Help!! New liner is killing me

Muppet,
Do you know if you had a hard or soft liner done???
I had a hard relign done last week, and have been uncomfortable since then.
My dentist did tell me that a soft relign adds a cushion, while a hard relign is unforgiving, so I might have sore spots, etc. But he also said that if I had any problems at all, I should come in for adjustments. I too have the gummy issue - as well as a crease between my upper lip and nose when I smile - kind of gives a horsey look!!! He took impressions and said that he would probably need to add acrylic to the top of the denture to close the gap so I don't have the crease. I will go back on Friday and hopefully he will be able to take care of it....the gummy issue was taken care of when he did the hard relign.
I would address the issue with your dentist....mine keeps telling me that I should never be uncomfortable in any way and that everything can be fixed...
let me know what happens.

Re: Help!! New liner is killing me

I had a soft liner done a month ago, and it was very comfortable. Yesterday he put a hard liner in them. He did tell me that if they bother me a bunch to come back in. I put them in this morning and put a very small amount of adhesive on them and they are not as sore. Slightly on one side on the top.He had so much adhesive on them yesterday it was unreal.After I had the soft liner done last month I didn't have to use adhesive at all to hold them in, and now I have to use it again. I thought each time I went back they should be fitting snugger, seems as though these are looser then before.Do you still have to use adhesive?He added material to the edges of my top plate also yesterday.I still have a gummy look, but I don't have any creases so to speak.Watch tomorrow morning I'll wake up with them. Ha Ha!!

Re: Help!! New liner is killing me

I called the dentist earlier and they said it was a temporary liner they put in them yesterday.Since they are not killing me like they were yesterday, just slightly sore I'm going to stick it out through the weekend and if they get worse by Tuesday next week I will go back to have them do something about it then.

Re: Help!! New liner is killing me

Decided to go back to the dentist today, because the more I wore these dentures the more my gums hurt.Felt like they were actually getting raw.They shaved a little more off and off I went.No adhesive to hold them in like yesterday, and not a bit of the pain. I sure didn't want to go through Memorial Day weekend hurting.What a relief!!
