Is there anything that whitens filings? I have many filling in my front teeth, so I can't use any whiteing stuff

, because they don't work on fillings. I hate this, I don't understand why they can't come out with something for this too. I can't ever get my teeth any whiter because of this. Is there anything anyone knows of? Just though I'd try. Thanks!

Sadly, the composites are colored before they are hardened, and are not able to be lightened past their original shade (stains can be removed from them though!). They would have to be replaced, or you could look in to veneers or bonding - both very good options for nice, bright, white teeth!

Thanks for replying. I have thought about bonding or veneers as my teeth are very bad, but am scared that it would decay inbetween real teeth and veeners. Can this happen? I wonder if they can get cavaties in between. As far as replacing the filings,

LOL I have way too many to even count. My teeth are very bad, and continue to be this way no matter what I do. It does run in the family. I wonder if it could be hereditary. Anyone know about the veener, if you have bad teeth, would it be a bad idea to get them?

I can relate... I get my tenuous teeth from my dad's side of the family - my mother has great teeth. And then on top of that, I have had 2 incidents of facial trauma that has just made things worse.

You can get decay between bondings and veneers, but with proper care and regular dental visits, this can be prevented. If your dentist is good and takes great care to make sure the teeth are clean before placing the veneers or bondings, this is greatly reduced. But you MUST be dedicated to good oral care to ensure success (which isn't going to be 100%). But all and all, I think you would be happy with one of these options. They can make SUCH a difference in your appearance and are well worth it!

I guess it really is hereditary. My mom had false teeth by the time she was 23 and my dad needed them at 30, but didn't actually get the courage till he was in his late 40's. I hate this, but what can you do, but make the best of what you have. LOL!
