Any help is appreciated!

This last year has been interesting for me... a LOT of dental work has been done. I have had 3 fillings, 4 wisdom teeth pulled, 3 crowns, and 3 root canals. The root canals caused an infection that was cleared with antibiotics. My question is regarding my gums, and how sensitive I am. When they took off my old crowns to put on the new, it was SOOOOO painful. My gums hurt so much. Even though I have had the root canals, it still hurts around those teeth because of the gums. I don't know why they hurt so much. Any ideas?

Thanks

Alison

Replacing crowns can be traumatic for your teeth and gums, so pain for a few days is not unusual... If it persists for more than a few days, call your dentist, but I think it is normal.

Re: Any help is appreciated!

It has been a couple months since I finished up all the work to my mouth. The extreme sensitivity was there at that time, but he had no idea why... he said he has never seen gums as sensitive as mine... any more suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: Any help is appreciated!

Hello,

I think you need to see your dentist again and have them check and make sure there is no more infection.....
I had a root canal some time ago and then had an infection.....they did a retreat on the root canal because the antibiotics worked but only for a while. They found out that I had a fractured palatal root. That would need to be taken care of as it can cause alot of problems......The one other thing that I noticed is a funny taste in my mouth and swelling in the gums......

Re: Any help is appreciated!

Thanks! I will have to figure out what is wrong... I'll have to talk to my dentist. I hope I don't have to have any more work done, but I know this sensitivity isn't normal...

Thanks again.

Alison
