My dentist recommended that I rinse with salt-in-water to help heal my minor gingivitis problem. I was just wondering how exactly salt-in-water does this? And can salt-in-water be used as part of a daily regiment to prevent gingivitis? Thanks.
Never heard of that. They tell us to use water and salt when we have surgery like extraction, but not to heal mild gingivitis. Best thing would be to ask for a prescription of Periocare or Peridex, that kills bacteria that causes gingivitis. But maybe he is right after all. Marti
My old dentist always told me to use salt water. He said It tightens up the gums. It does do that , but make sure your dentist is checking regularly for pocket depths. and watch for telltale signs that you have a problem such as bleeding gums when you brush. That is what my old dentist did not do and the disease progressed to a serious stage.
