Talking Post-Extraction Bleeding

I had an extraction Thursday evening. It bled all that evening and when I went to bed. On Friday and Saturday mornings I woke up with some blood on my pillow. Actually, it seemed kind of brown. Maybe not fresh? I saw a news article online about a guy who bled to death in his sleep after an extraction, so I've been worried about that ever since. Should I be worried about a little bleeding through the night? And also, I was wondering: if the clot is lost during the night, does that mean that it will bleed profusely? I am so worried about the bleeding, even just a little bit. Please help!

Re: Post-Extraction Bleeding

I had a tooth pulled 2 weeks ago and I had a small amount of bleeding for about a week afterwards. I think a small amount during the night is normal. I have gotten a dry socket in 2 teeth that were pulled before, and even though the blood clot was lost, there was not a lot of bleeding. It sounds like your situation is perfectly normal, try not to worry!! Good luck!

Re: Post-Extraction Bleeding

I have heard that you can chew or compress tea bag at the extraction site and it will help stop the bleeding. It may be worth a try.
