What is the best teeth whitening home kit? - Dental Health Message Board

Due to the many products that exist is the market, I am not certain which one to buy.
Could you please advise me or refer me to a market search or something of the sort.

Look for any of these two ingredients when buying whitening products: carbamine peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. These are the active ingredients in whitening your teeth. Most products over the counter uses hydrogen peroxide which runs about 10%. Professional bleaching at the dental office usually uses anywhere from 25% to 40%. There are two types of teeth shades: yellow and gray. Younger ppl tend to have the yellow shade which is easier to whiten. Older ppl tend to have the gray shade which is harder to bleach. And if you have tetracycline stain then you need professional bleaching with several sessions of it to get good results. One product that I like is the Crest White Strips because they are user friendly and predosed. But they only cover the front teeth. The strips are not very long. The ones over the counter are about 10% hydrogen peroxide. The latest professional version is the Crest White Strips Supreme which is only sold thru the dental office because it's equivalent to 40% hydrogen peroxide. But **** has it listed for approx. $40 per kit. The dental offices sell the exact same kit for approx. $50-65 per kit. Some ppl have sensitivity due to the high % of peroxide so it needs dental supervision. I've also seen some bleaching kit on TV with 30% or higher of peroxide gels. If you are buying those make sure you know what you are doing because you can damage your teeth. If abused, you will end up with some root canals which I've seen one case of it so far. To be on the safe side use the lower % but will take you much longer to see results but it's safer.

I actually asked my dentist this question last week. He recomended Crest Whitestrips (the 7-day ones). He said that Crest is the best product on the market since they've done extensive research on their product and have been in the dental business for many, many years. The 7-day strips are best because he said they are stronger and will work more efficiently than the longer-term kits. He said he has seen the best results w/ this product. Hope this helps! I used the crest whitestrips with great results. I had some patchy stains so for years I had been told that I would have to get veneers ($$$), so I just put it off. My new dentist looked at my teeth and decided to try some stuff out. He basically just buffed away the badly stained spots. After that, he told me to try the whitestrips since I had uniform discoloration then (if you use them with patchy stains, it may just accentuate the stains). After three or four days I had great results. I actually stopped then because I was having some sensitivity problems and also my teeth were white enough. They were kind of annoying and slid around a bit, but overall I would recommend them.

Crest white strips are the best. The is the best way with out spending alot of money.
