Reactions to a Crown??? - Dental Health Message Board

Maybe it is just a coincidence, maybe not. Hopefully someone can shed some light for me.
I had a gold crown put in the 1st week of December 2003. Around the 1st of Jan I started getting Dizzy spells, weird sensations thru my whole body, tingling in my face, arms chest. Chest pains etc. It was severe enough I was off work almost 3 months, and once went to ER thinking of a heart attack. I have been to a cardiologist with all of the heart tests done, nothing. Next neurologist, head ct, MRI, eeg nothing. Chest x-ray, spiral ct of chest. They all have been able to tell me what it isn't, but to this day nobody can say what it is.
I may be grasping at straws at this point, but has anyone ever heard of any reactions to a gold crown?? I have told every doctor about this starting shortly after the crown was done, they dismiss it and barely acknowledge the question. To this day about every couple weeks I get this mediciney taste around the crown, assume it is from the cement. I told the Dentist about 6 months after this started and he too dismissed even the fact that I had the medicine taste in my mouth. I still get occaisional symptons today, but rarely a dizzy spell.
I may jusy be crazy, but if anyone has heard of such a thing please respond.

If you have mercury-silver dental amalgams (called "silver" fillings by a lot of dentists), you could have some additional galvanic action, which could cause you problems. This is created by having gold fillings mixed in your mouth with mercury fillings in different teeth. This gold filling or gold crown causes the mercury to leak out faster. You can read about this from many sources.

The controversy about mercury fillings still continues, but it is recognized that some people are more sensitive to these metals than others. Unfortunately scientists are still learning so much about this, that they just don't have all the answers. That's why you may find that the doctors you are seeing can't find anything wrong. How many of them are looking at metal toxicity?

I recovered from my headaches, backaches, chest pains etc. after I had my mercury-silver dental amalgams replaced with porcelain fillings. There are thousands of people like me.

Anyway, I can't say if this applies to you, but I thought I would give you some information so that you could research this some more.

I honestly don't believe in Gold Crown causing ANY concerns. If you had any reaction to ANY part of gold alloy, it would manifest locally first ( as in gum irritation and stuff like this). Check out your health, but crown placement was just a coincedence.

I disagree with your dismissal of what ther person called "galvanic" action. What they mean is electrolytic which is electrical action caused by dis-similar metals.

All i can say to you everything you posted is..... your wrong.
